Skill Level: Beginner
In this tutorial learn how to use Selective Color to add subtle tones to greyscale images.
First open up your photo in Photoshop.
The Image I’ve used can be downloaded here.
Go to Image> Mode> Grayscale, then Image> Mode> RGB Color.
Now duplicate the background layer twice.
Change the middle layer’s blending mode to Screen, and set it’s Opacity to 20%.
Change the top layer’s blending mode to Screen, and set it’s Opacity to 50%.
Next we’ll add a Selective Color layer.
Click on the adjustment layer button at the bottom of your layers panel and choose Selective Color.
