How to Create a Dreamy Photo Effect in Photoshop

In this tutorial, we’ll learn how to create a dreamy photo effect in Photoshop. We will do that just by applying a couple of filter effects and adjustment layers.

To create a dreamy photo effect, you’ll need:

  • Adobe Photoshop

Step 1

Let’s start by opening our image. I used this stock photo. Use the Quick Selection Tool to select the girl and then go to Select > Refine Edge to smoothen the selection.

Open a new 3000 x 2000px document and place the girl in the center.

Step 6

The background is complete! All we have to do now is add some rose petals, which you can download here. Open each of your rose petals and select them with the Quick Selection Tool.

Place your first rose petal in the document and use the Transform Tool to rotate and resize it.

Then, select the largest petal, go to Filter > Blur > Lens Blur and use a 30px Radius. Apply a 10px Lens Blur to two or three other smaller petals.
