How to Create Marble Text Effect in Photoshop

In this tutorial, we’ll learn how to create marble text effect in Photoshop just by applying some layer styles and filters.

To create marble text effect, you’ll need:

Step 1

Create a new document in Photoshop and fill it with the colour #534d39. Next, place the marble texture on top of the background layer and change its layer blending mode to Multiply.

Write your text using the colour #b0ac97, Wrexham Script font and 377px font size. Then, duplicate the text layer and change the duplicate layer’s Fill value to 0.

Step 2

Double-click on the original text layer to open the Layer Style window and make the changes shown below.

Step 3

We’ll now create a glass effect on the text. Double-click on the duplicate text layer to open the Layer Style window and make the changes shown below.

Step 4

Now, create a new layer between the two text layers and name it “texture”.

Command-click (Macs) / ctrl-click (Windows) on any of the text layer’s thumbnail to make a selection around the text.

Set the colour #a77d31 as the foreground colour and #fff8de as the background colour. Now, fill the text selection with the foreground colour.

Remove the selection by pressing Command+D (Macs) / Ctrl+D (Windows).

Step 5

We’ll now create the marble texture by using a couple of filters. Select Filter > Filter Gallery, choose Sponge from the Artistic folder and use the settings shown below.

Select Filter > Filter Gallery, choose Chalk & Charcoal from the Sketch folder and use the settings shown below.

Select Filter > Filter Gallery, choose Plastic Wrap from the Artistic folder and use the settings shown below.

Finally, select Filter > Filter Gallery, choose Film Grain from the Artistic folder and use the settings shown below.

Step 6

Now, change the texture layer’s blending mode to Multiply.

Go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation and make the changes shown below.
