In this tutorial, we’ll learn how to create a bright, colorful text effect in Photoshop. Creating this effect is very easy and even beginners can do it. Here’s the effect we will be creating:
To create a colorful text effect, you’ll need:
Create a new 1024 x 768px document and fill it with black. Then, write your text with the Think Deco font in #fff43e color and 250px size. If you want to arrange your text separately, write it in separate layers, group the layers together and name the group “original text”.
Duplicate the group, right-click on the duplicate group and click on Merge Group.
Double-click on any of the layers in the original text group and apply the layer styles shown below.
Now, set 0 as the layer’s Fill value.
Next, right-click on the styled layer, click on Copy Layer Style, select the remaining layers, right-click on any one of them and select Paste Layer Style.
This is what you will get if you hide the merged group, but just remember to make it visible again.
Double-click on the merged group now and apply the layer styles shown below.
Change the layer’s Fill value to 0 too.
Set white as the Foreground color, create a new layer and name it “Sparkles”. Choose the brush shown below from the Sparkle Brushes set, set its size to about 35px and randomly create sparkles on the text edges. Remember not to overdo it.
Now, duplicate the Sparkles layer twice and name them “Vertical Blur” and “Horizontal Blur”.
Select the Vertical Blur layer, go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur and use the settings shown below.
Now, select the Horizontal Blur layer, go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur and use the settings shown below.
Finally, we will add the colors. Create a new layer, name it “color” and change its blending mode to Color. Then, grab a soft round brush and keep its size to about 250px.
Start making different color spots everywhere inside your document using bright colors until the whole text is covered. This is what your document should look like in Normal blending mode.
And this is what your final effect will look like in the Color blending mode. The colorful text effect tutorial is complete!
